Variables
Swainson's Hawk
In far eastern Oregon, occurred the most disproportionately in
hexagons with any agricultural lands and July precipitation (hex. min.)
of less than 12 mm. Moving westward, it occurred mostly in hexagons
containing less than 11% of their area in public ownership, or in
hexagons with 5-71% sagebrush steppe. At the westernmost boundary
of its range, it occurred mostly in hexagons without ponderosa pine
forest, or with ponderosa pine forest and 9-46% ponderosa pine mixed
conifer forest (Northeast Oregon). The logistic regression analysis
showed positive or negative association with the extent of public land,
April precipitation (hex. avg.), May precipitation (hex. med.), and July
maximum temperature (hex. max.).
